Pricing Pet Odor Treatment Per Room or Per Area Without Undercharging

Pet odor treatment is one of the easiest add-ons to underprice. It feels small next to the carpet cleaning, the customer is already wincing at the total, and the tech wants to be helpful. So it gets thrown in for a few dollars or for free. Then the job runs long, the treatment takes real time, and the van is late for the next stop. Pricing it properly is fairer to everyone.

Pricing Follows the Job

The job side of pet work, from phone questions to customer notes, is covered in Pet Odor Treatment Jobs: Quoting, Noting and Setting Expectations in Your Software. This guide is about the number on the quote.

In CarpetBossPro, pet odor treatment is a service on your list with your own price, and Pet Odor Treatment is a checkbox on the job. When you add the service to an estimate, it becomes its own line, and when the job is complete it becomes its own line on the invoice.

Per Room vs. Per Area

There are two common ways to price pet odor treatment:

Many companies offer both. Per room for heavy cases, per area for scattered spots. Set each up as its own service on the list with a clear name: “Pet odor treatment, per room” and “Pet odor treatment, per area.” Then the quote is just picking the right one and setting the quantity.

Setting the Price

Start with time. How long does a typical pet odor treatment take your techs, compared with cleaning a room of carpet? Add the time for the conversation, which on pet jobs is usually longer. Then price so the add-on pays for that time. An add-on that costs you money on every job isn't really an add-on.

Consider a minimum for pet odor work too. A single small spot might be quick, but the setup and the conversation aren't. A minimum, set up as its own service or built into estimate templates, covers that.

Whatever you choose, put it on the service list. Then the office and the techs quote the same number, every time.

Upholstery and Rugs With Pet Odor

Pets don't stay on the carpet. The sofa, the dog bed's favorite chair and the area rug in the den often need attention too. Price pet odor treatment on upholstery and rugs separately from carpet:

Keeping these separate lets the customer see exactly what they are paying for and choose. It also keeps your per-piece upholstery prices clean. See Pricing Upholstery Cleaning Per Piece So Every Tech and Office Person Quotes the Same Number for the base upholstery pricing.

Keeping Techs From Discounting

The door is where pet odor pricing usually breaks. The customer points at another spot and asks if the tech can “just hit that too.” If the tech says yes for free, the price on your list stops meaning anything.

A better habit: the tech says what it costs from the list, notes the request on the job or texts the office, and the office adds the line item. The customer gets a fair price, and the invoice matches the work. Owners who want to give a break can still do it, but as a deliberate choice, not a habit.

When the tech taps Complete, the invoice is created and the card on file can be charged. The customer sees each pet odor line in the customer app, along with before-and-after photos.

Packages for Pet Homes

Pet owners often book every year or every six months. A pet package makes that easy to sell and keeps pricing consistent:

Save it as an estimate template, and offer it as a plan customers can sign up for in the customer app. Repeat cleanings are set by minimum days between visits, so the home comes back onto the Waiting List when it's due, with the pet odor lines carried forward from the last job.

Review your pet pricing once a season. If pet jobs keep running long, raise the price on the list once and every new quote picks it up. For how pet work fits with upholstery, rugs and tile, see the CarpetBossPro upholstery cleaning software page.
