Reminder Texts That Bring Carpet Cleaning Customers Back Every Year
A text is the easiest way to reach a customer. It does not interrupt dinner like a call, it does not get lost in a promotions folder like an email, and the customer can answer whenever they get a minute. For a carpet cleaning business, a few well-timed texts do two jobs: they bring customers back when they are due, and they make the day of the job go smoothly.
Texts Start on the Waiting List
The Waiting List, covered in The Waiting List: Filling a Carpet Cleaning Calendar With Homes That Came Due, tells you who is due. Texts are how you tell them.
In CarpetBossPro, automated reminders and alerts go out by text and email, and two-way texting lets the office reach customers directly and see their replies. Both matter. Automated messages make sure nobody is forgotten. Two-way texting lets you have a real conversation when the customer writes back with a question.
The “You're Due” Text
The text that brings a customer back is short, friendly and specific. It reminds them who you are, why you are writing, and what to do next:
- “Hi Pat, it's been about a year since we cleaned your carpets. Want to get on the schedule before the holidays? Just reply and we'll set it up.”
- “Hi, your six-month cleaning is coming up. We'll be in your area on the 14th. Does that work?”
Mention the area or a day when you can. A customer is more likely to say yes to a specific day than to an open question. Keep the price conversation for the reply, unless they are on a plan with a set price.
The Night-Before Text
Carpet cleaning needs the customer's help. Cars out of the driveway so the van can park close. Small items off the floor. Pets put away. A night-before reminder gives them time to do it. In the customer app, customers choose their own alerts, and the night-before alert is one of them.
A good night-before message reminds them of the time window and any prep you want. It saves the tech from spending the first twenty minutes picking up toys.
It is also the customer's last easy chance to reschedule. A reply that says “Something came up, can we move it?” the night before is much better than a locked door in the morning. When replies come back through two-way texting, the office can move the job and fill the gap from the Waiting List before the van leaves the shop.
On the Way and Arrived
On the day of the job, the tech app sends automatic on-the-way and arrived texts as the tech works the route. Customers can also choose an alert for when they are next. In the customer app, they can watch the route on a live map, with something like “You're stop 12 of 20 — the crew is 5 stops away.”
These messages cut down on “when will you be here?” calls to the office and make sure someone is home to open the door. They also look professional. Customers notice when a business tells them what is going on without being asked.
Keeping Texts Useful, Not Annoying
Texting works because people still read their texts. Do not ruin that by sending too many. A few rules of thumb:
- Only text with a reason. Due reminders, appointment alerts, a question about the job. Not weekly promotions.
- Keep it short. One or two sentences. Plain words. No fancy characters.
- Sign it. The customer should know it is your company.
- Reply fast. A customer who answers a due reminder and hears nothing for two days has cooled off.
- Respect opt-outs. If someone asks you to stop texting, stop, and follow whatever texting rules apply where you work.
CarpetBossPro plans include a monthly text allowance of texts sent and received: 500 on Start, 1,000 on Pro and 2,000 on Crew, in the US and Canada. Short texts help you stay inside it.
Text After the Job, Too
The day after a job is a good time for one more message: a thank-you, a reminder about dry time if needed, and a simple ask for a rating. In the customer app, customers can rate the job, see their before-and-after photos, view and pay their invoice, and refer a friend. That after-the-job message is where reviews and referrals start, covered in Getting More Reviews for Your Carpet Cleaning Business Without Begging.
Texts are small, but they hold the year together: a reminder when they are due, a heads-up the night before, an alert on the day and a thank-you after. For every guide on running the business, go back to the carpet cleaning business software page.
